Power sticks from dried plums

Energy bars with dried plums, an ideal choice for moments when you feel the need for something sweet to give you a pulse of energy during the day.

Because we like snacks between tables and because we always want to make the right choices, we thought of giving you a very light recipe of energy bars, for which we used dried prunes and salty and salty forest of Orlando’s. It is a very interesting combination of tastes because we managed to achieve a balance of taste between sweet, dehydrated and salted plums.

These are raw bars, ie they did not require the use of fire but they were made by cold pressing. Keep for about 5-7 days in the refrigerator, and in the freezer can stay for several months. You can do larger quantities, put the sticks in a casserole, keep some for consumption in the refrigerator, and the rest in the freezer. This way, when you feel the need for a snack or something sweet, just remove one stick from the casserole, leave it at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes, then you can enjoy it.

Take a look at the supermarket bars and try to do it at home, avoiding those full of sugar and other fake scents on the store shelves! We promise it is very easy to do!

Ingredients

200 gr. Orlando’s super soft plums
35 gr. Orlando’s ripe hazelnuts
180 gr. fine oatmeal flakes
15 grams (1 tablespoon) of red or cacao powder
2 tablespoons of Orlando’s rum

Preparation

Put the plums in a bowl and cover them with lukewarm water. Let them hydrate for at least 30 minutes. Why is this step needed? Once dried plums are hydrated it will be easier for you to mix them with the blender.

Meanwhile, with a knife, cut the hazelnuts into smaller pieces, then put them apart in a small bowl.

After the 30 minutes of the dried plums have dried, sprinkle them with water and using a vertical blender or a kitchen knife mixes the plums until it turns into a paste.

Add the bowl of plum purée and the rest of the ingredients: cocoa powder or cocoa powder, the essence of rum, chopped forest nuts, and oatmeal flakes one at a time. Mix the whole composition by hand until you finish the 180 gr. of oatmeal.

Transfer the sticking composition into a plastic foil wrapping tray. Our tray was 28 cm long and 10 cm wide. Why do you need plastic foil? This will make it much easier for you to remove the entire composition from the tray after it has hardened. Flatten well with wet hands, then place the tray in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours or best overnight to cure.
Once the composition has hardened, gently pull it out of the tray and cut into the right sticks.

Serve them as an innocent snack between meals, whenever you feel the need for something to satisfy your need for sweetness or to fill you with energy. You’re welcome!
